Following the Kano state’s New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) led administration’s reaction to the announcement of the formation of “shadow government” to checkmate the administration of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. In Kano state, leadership of Patriotic Volunteers, a group within the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has replied to the Kano state government.
In a statement issued and signed by the group’s Chairman media committee Malam Saleh Adamu Kwaru, the group stated that its disappointed with the state commissioner for information remarks on their intended move adding that it was unfortunate that the state government chooses to view a harmless move to scrutinize policies as a move to undermine governance.
“Our goal as democrats is not to undermine the government, but to constructively contribute to the governance of Kano state by scrutinizing the policies and actions of the current administration thereby providing valuable insight and alternative solutions,” it said.
The statement further revealed that the establishment of a system like the ‘Shadow government is legitimate and not an act of rebellion of defiance as no law was broken in the establishment of the system.
The group maintained that it remained resolute to its commitment to the initiative in the spirit of democracy and constructive engagement.
