Several Boko Haram fighters have been killed by the military and civilian joint task force during an attack on Maiduguri, Borno State capital.
The insurgents attacked Jiddari Polo areas of Maiduguri on Tuesday night, forcing hundreds of people to flee the area, following sporadic shooting and blasts.
The attack happened when Muslim faithful were about to break their fast.
A security source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that several Boko Haram insurgents lost their lives after a swift response from combined security operatives.
He said the insurgents came through Molai axis of the city, but met a stiff resistance by the security forces.
The source said some vehicles belonging to the insurgents were also destroyed during the battle, while many of the insurgents escaped with gunshot wounds.
