Gunmen have shot dead at least seven people and wounded scores at Channel One, a border settlement in Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Locals revealed that it was a coordinated attack around 1 am on Sunday.
They said the invaders stormed the area on motorcycles with dangerous weapons, opened fire on residents, causing panic in the local area.
They said the attack caused fear among them as many fled for their dear lives.
A community leader in Logo, Chief Joseph Anawah, identified those killed as Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, Msughter Terzungwe and one other who could not be identified.
Anawah said the several others who were wounded were rushed to medical facilities in Anyiin, while seven others in critical condition were referred to Ugba, the headquarters of Logo LGA, for urgent treatment.
Chairman of Logo LGA, Clement Kav, confirmed the attacks in Makurdi, saying, “they killed seven persons and injured four others.
The state Police spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet, said she was not aware of the deadly incident.
