The Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, Festus Agas, has resigned his appointment with the state government.
Agas was Secretary to the State Government between 2015 and 2019.
He became the governor’s strategist after the 2019 election, and emerged as Chief of Staff when Okowa reconstituted his cabinet in 2021 following a major shakeup.
Aside from Festus Agas, commissioners who resigned from the cabinet include Basil Ganagana, Evelyn Oboro, Julius Egbedi, Jonathan Ukodhiko, Christian Onogba, Ovie Oghoore, and Chika Ossai.
Their resignation, it was gathered, was in line Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act 2022, which stipulates that political appointees must resign their appointments before participating in the 2023 general elections, either as delegates or seeking elective offices.
