Although Sergio Ramos confesses that “everything went wrong” for him initially in France, he has no regrets about leaving Real Madrid for Paris Saint-Germain.
When the storied World Cup champion defender moved from the Spanish metropolis to its French counterpart in 2021, he ended an illustrious 16-year tenure at Santiago Bernabeu. Ramos played 671 times for Real, registered 101 goals, and led Los Blancos to five La Liga championships and four Champions League trophies. But when he signed on as a free agent with Ligue 1 powerhouses, he was looking for a new challenge. Of course, leaving Real Madrid was a significant adjustment.
“My constant aim is to keep winning. I had a lot of success with Real Madrid, but I figured this was a nice chance for a change of pace and an opportunity to try to support a side like PSG. At first, everything was quite challenging. Particularly if you arrive with a family and four children, you must locate a place to live and establish yourself. Although initially challenging, everything has turned out well.”
