The Senate adjourned the interface with the service chiefs over insecurity to February 13, 2024, to accommodate everyone involved in the management of security in the country.
The Upper Chamber suspended its rules to host the Service Chiefs and Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on National Assembly Matters, Senator Abdullahi Gumel, to brief the Senators on the rising insecurity facing the country.
The security chiefs came in the Senate chamber in response to the lawmakers’ invitation to address them on Wednesday and Thursday on rising insecurity.
In a turn of events, the Senate decided to widen the briefing, so it shifted the event to a later date.
The motion to adjourn the security briefing by the service chiefs was moved by the leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and was seconded by the minority leader of Senate, Senator Abba Moro.
