Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions, Sen. Neda Imasuen, says the 10th Senate received over 300 petitions, necessitating dedicated hearing days for timely resolutions of the petitions.
Imasuen (Edo, LP) made this known on Sunday in Benin while discussing with journalists.
He said the need for the dedicated days to hear the petitions was to ensure all the petitions were resolved.
This approach, he believed, would reduce the workload and improve efficiency.
“By implementing dedicated hearing days, the committee aims to enhance its overall efficiency in resolving petitions,” he said.
Imasuen said the committee recently recommended a six-month suspension for Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over alleged misconduct and violation of Senate Standing Rules, rather than sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
