A coordinated response by security operatives has successfully repelled a large-scale bandit incursion in a border community of Kano State, leading to the recovery of over 500 rustled cattle and the neutralization of two suspects.
The attempted attack, carried out in broad daylight by armed bandits riding on about 150 motorcycles, targeted Tsauri town in Shanono Local Government Area. The assailants reportedly stormed a Fulani settlement, where a herder with more than 2,000 cattle was based, and made away with a significant number of livestock.
Speaking via telephone, the Chairman of the Faruruwa Community Security Committee, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, praised the swift intervention of security agencies, particularly the police, for their prompt action in containing the situation.
According to him, community members quickly raised the alarm and alerted neighbouring areas including Goron Dutse, Shanono, and Tsanyawa, while he personally contacted the Commissioner of Police, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who immediately ordered a rapid response.
Bagobiri explained that joint security teams, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), intercepted the fleeing bandits as they attempted to escape with the stolen cattle across parts of Kano and into neighbouring Katsina State.
He expressed gratitude for the improved responsiveness of security agencies, noting that their timely intervention has significantly contributed to maintaining peace in the area.
