The Kano Branch of the NBA has urged stakeholders in the ongoing Kano emirate leaderhip tussle to respect rule of law.
In a statement signed by NBA barn branch Chairman Sagir Suleman Gezawa on Saturday, the association was it was deeply concerned about these developments in the state.
The lawyers are reacting to the Kano emirate tussle were Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf sacked Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi, thereby creating legal gymnastics and palpable tension in the ancient city.
The statement said a “court order, once given is sacrosanct and must be obeyed.”
It therefore urged its members to “act responsibly in approaching courts with competent jurisdiction.”
The NBA also “call on all state actors, to be mindful of their oaths of office and for the security agencies, their scope of duties so as not to make mockery of our judicial system.
“They should as well be mindful of the fact that their actions may breach the security and peace of Kano State and they shall be held accountable in this life or the next.”
