Mother of the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Rotimi Amaechi, Mrs. Mary Amaechi died on Thursday.
Ameachi’s media office announced this in a statement, saying his mother was 89.
The former Rivers State Governor and Transportation Minister, described his late mother as a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace, and unity.
The statement reads in part: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the beloved mother of Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs Mary Amaechi, who departed peacefully on Thursday, July 16. She was 89.
“The late Mrs Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace, and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader, whose belief and faith in God were firm and resolute.
“She was loved and highly respected in her community and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her and beyond”.
