A seven-year-old girl, Alicia Olajumoke, has been stabbed by a woman simply identified as Success at Okabia Street, Agip Estate in the Rumueme area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
She also stabbed herself in the throat after attacking the child.
Locals said Success is familiar to neighbors and was said to be related to the child’s mother.
It was learnt that Success went to the child’s school, picked her up, took her to her apartment, and killed her on Tuesday
Both the suspect and the victim were rushed to the hospital but were later confirmed dead.
The child’s mother, Glory Joseph, who reported the case to the police, said the woman had picked her daughter from school before carrying out the act.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident on Thursday. saying the child’s corpse has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, while investigation is ongoing.
