The impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy Ngozi Odu has been called off by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the decision was sequel to President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
The House moved the motion to halt the impeachment process on Thursday at its resumed sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
It would be recalled that at its first sitting in 2026, the lawmakers during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule had begun the impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy for alleged gross misconduct.
The chief judge of the state failed to set up an impeachment panel citing two court orders.
