The father of a day-old child that was murdered has confessed to the killing if his own daughter.
The 28-year-old resident of Doka Village of Tofa local government area of Kano state, Musbahu Salisu, was arrested by the State Hibah Board for allegedly killing his day-old daughter that was delivered to him by his wife.
The father confessed to the crime after being apprehended by the state hisbah. The suspect claimed that he had killed the innocent child by lacing the child’s tea with a deadly pesticide known as ‘Fiya-Figa’.
The suspected who was apprehended three months after committing the crime said he has been aspiring for a male child, but unfortunate to him, his wife delivered a female child which he claimed didn’t go down well with him.
“I prefers a male child, but my wife gave birth to a female, which prompted me to end the baby’s life.
“After she delivered, I bought a poison called Fiya-Fiya and put inside tea. i feed the baby and she died,” he confessed.
The suspect further said that he also drugged the mother of the baby, Sa’adatu Musbahu so that she will sleep and will not noticed what he was doing.
“Whe I was buying the poison, I also bought a sleeping drugs, I used it for the mother who fall asleep while I was feeding the baby with the poisoned tea.”
The deputy commander general in charge of operations, Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen said, Misbahu confessed to the criminal act, and would be handed over to the state criminal investigation department (CID), for necessary action.
