Residents of Abaji community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are fleeing following upsurge of kidnapping in the area.
21st Century Chronicle had reported that at least 48 people were kidnapped in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja in the last seven months.
The newspaper analysed media reports from September 2020 to March this year, and revealed that the figure represents reported cases only.
Abductions within the FCT have become routine and mostly unreported, and residents of Anguwar Hausawa and Kekeshi communities, in Abaji area council were the most affected by the activities of kidnappers.
A resident of Kekeshi said he had relocated from Abaji due to frequent bandits attack.
Another resident who is a vulcanizer said even though attacks were not carried out in his area his mind had not been at rest, hence he decided to relocate from Ungwar Hausawa.
Even though some kidnap attempts were foiled by the Police and Vigilantes, the kidnappers kept coming back to the community to abduct people for ransom.
