The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has resumed office and instructed his staff to do the same.
In a video broadcast on X on Monday, Shaibu wrote, “In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to the office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”
He further directed those who haven’t resumed work since his reinstatement to do so immediately or face consequences.
Shaibu also revealed that he had requested the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides but was still awaiting a response.
He emphasised that the Federal High Court’s judgment, which reinstated him, meant his office was never vacant.
The deputy governor warned banks against conducting transactions with his office without his explicit approval, saying such transactions would be deemed illegal.
Shaibu also expressed sadness over the killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate, which occurred upon his return to the state.
According to him, suspects had been arrested.
