Kano State Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has wished all Muslims a blessed Ramadan fast, calling on the fasting Ummah to use the opportunity to pray for peace in the state.
In the spirit of peace and forgiveness inherent in the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Governor-elect invited Kano people, including contestants who lost in the 2023 elections, to join hands with him towards achieving the greater state of our dream.
A statement on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin- Tofa, quoted Mr Yusuf as saying that Ramadan offers opportunity for reconciliation and forgiveness especially among politicians in the interest of peace and overall development of the State.
He noted that “we have no other place than Kano, hence its duty bound on the citizens to promote peace and build bridges to reinforce economic, social and cultural prides of the State adjudged to be the commerce and trade hub of Nigeria.”
He admonished the food commodity traders across Kano markets to eschew profiteering and show compassion to poor families who strive to break fast, assuring the people that the incoming government will be committed to poverty eradication through youth empowerment, support for MSMEs and good social welfare for the aged in the State.
He urged the Imams and Ulama in all the Mosques across the 44 Local Government Areas of the State to pray for tranquility and prosperity in Kano as the new government emerges.
