The Sokoto State Government has approved N1 billion for its 2026 Ramadan feeding programme.
It also increased the number of feeding centres across the state from 155 to 170.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced the approval on Sunday while inaugurating committees to supervise activities at the centres.
He said the expansion followed complaints and observations recorded during last year’s exercise.
According to the governor, about 34,000 plates of food will be served daily throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Aliyu explained that the N1 billion allocation will cover food supplies, payment of labourers, and other logistics to ensure smooth implementation of the programme.
He also called on wealthy individuals to support the less privileged, noting that Ramadan is a period that emphasises charity, compassion and community support.
The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as sustained support to state governments.
