Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, has sworn-in six new permanent secretaries in the state civil service.
The new permanent secretaries sworn in are Jamilu Yakubu Batagarawa, Samaila Yusuf Bindawa, Lawal Suleiman Abdullahi, Hamza Mani Tafashiya, Ahmed Hassan Mashi, and Ibrahim Muazu.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim kaula Mohammed on Thursday, quoted Governor Radda saying the selection was merit-based, adding that all he six permanent secretaries were after passing an examination.
He congratulated them and stressed the importance of their services, particularly during times of economic and security challenges.
Governor Radda urged them to work together to foster prosperity and peace in the state, just as he said the state government is committed to addressing security challenges and called on everyone to offer prayers, especially during the Ramadan fast, and mobilize their communities to confront these challenges effectively.
The state’s Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar administered te oath of office on the new officials.
In another development, Governor Radda has flagged off the aerial spraying of chemicals against Quella Birds and other pests annually destroying crops in the state.
Speaking during the programme held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, Radda said “about 50,000 identified rice farmers across the state have received federal government support to boost their activities”.
He praised the FG for providing the chemicals and the aircraft to be used for the spraying, and hoped that the aerial spray would be sustained in the state.
The governor who regretted the damages and losses caused by quella birds and locusts to Katsina farmers, said the spraying is a routine one conducted, among other measures, to ensure safe farming activities in the state.
