The the inauguration was part of activities to celebrate the two years of the administration.

Radda said the development was a promise fulfilled to the people of katsina.

“Since the beginning of this administration, we have prioritised heavy direct investments in the water sector, implementing transformative projects that address both urban and rural water challenges.

“Through strategic collaborations, we have explored global solutions, including the World Bank-supported SURWASH project for results, where over N25 billion worth of water projects are currently at various stages of completion across the state.

“This significant intervention reinforces our resolve to ensure sustainability, efficiency, and accessibility in water governance,” the governor said.

Radda said that his administration has also mapped out the second phase of the Zobe Dam extension.

The governor said that his administration has undertaken policy reforms, including the review and modernisation of the obsolete Water Board Edict of 1971.

According to him, this action aligns the water governance framework with global best practices, enabling greater efficiency, accountability, and sustainability in the sector.

“Our commitment to water security aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), particularly Goal 6, which emphasises universal access to clean water and sanitation.

“As a government, we are resolute in our determination to achieve this vision, and with your support, we shall continue to chart the path toward a healthier, more prosperous Katsina.”

Earlier, the Managing Director of the state’s water board, Tukur Hassan-Tingilin, said the projects were executed at Sabuwar Unguwa, Rahamawa/Abbatoir, Makera Quarters, Behind NYSC, Tudun Yan Lihidda, Dutsen Safe, Barhim estate and FMC housing Estate.

According to him, about 70,000 inhabitants will be supplied with adequate and portable water with targeted supply time of not less than six hours daily.

“For the sustainability of the projects, water committees were formed in the various beneficiary communities to oversee the functionality and sustainability of the schemes.

“In addition, grievances redress committees were also formed to mediate and end crisis at the various community’s levels,” Hassan-Tingilin said.
