Miners on Thursday took over the Maru-Talata Mafara Road in Zamfara State to protest the arrest of their members.
A video shows the miners on top of a bridge clutching shovels, diggers and blocking the road.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that motorists including buses, long trucks and tankers from both sides of the road formed long queues as the protesting miners stopped them from moving.
The video showed passengers and other road uses alighting from the vehicles and walking towards where the miners had blocked the road,
Sources said security operatives fired gun shots to disperse the miners, but they remain put and refused to retreat.
