Mr Victor Jumbo has been elected as a factional Spealer in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Mr Jumbo (PDP- Bonny), was elected on Wednesday by pro-Fubara lawmakers.
The new speaker is one of the four lawmakers loyal to the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara since the governor parted ways with his predecessor and political godfather Nyesom Wile.
The former factional Speaker, Edison Ehie and head of the pro-Fubara lawmakers, had earlier resigned from the assembly after President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
Mr Ehie was later appointed Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, by Governor Fubara.
A anonymous source in the Government House, Port Harcourt, confirmed the new development.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that Hon Victor Oko Jumbo has just emerged as the new Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“His colleagues elected him during their sitting in Port Harcourt this afternoon. That is all I can say for now,” the source said.
