The police in Abuja have arrested one of its personnel for inflicting injuries on her 10-year-old niece for stealing meat from the pot on Christmas eve.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the policewoman, identified as Ruth, resides with the niece, identified as Miracle, at Dutse Alhaji, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Residents said Ruth tied the niece’s two hands and dipped them inside boiled water, after she caught her in the act.
It was learnt that a neighbour who heard Miracles’s cries alerted the police and she was rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital.
“We were surprised at what they saw in the house,” a neighbour who pleaded anonymity said.
She said the niece sustained serious injuries on the two hands.
She also said that the policewoman was still at the Dutse Alhaji division.
The spokesperson of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said the police have begun an investigation on the incident.
