Enforcement of the vehicle tinted glass permit has been suspended in compliance with a court order to that effect.
Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this on Wednesday, saying the suspension was announced after the police officially received the court order.
Adeh said the suspension would remain in place until the outcome of the ongoing legal process.
“We are waiting for the verdict. We are not against the courts, and we will continue to wait until we get a verdict,” she added.
Adeh attributed the introduced of the tinted glass to for security reasons, adding that some crimes are perpetrated using vehicles with darkened windows.
“The law was not made by us. We are enforcers. The policy was purely security-driven,” she said.
Adeh said it was not true that the policy was targeted at financial gain, adding that all payments related for tinted permits are made directly into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), not to the police.
