Policemen and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Fred Udogu clashed Monday as the faction attempted to take over the party secretariat in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Armed with the alleged court injunction, the Udogu faction with its members in their hundreds besieged the secretariat with the intent of
taking it over around 10am but the police arrived at the scene and dispersed them.
The Publicity Secretary of the Udogu faction, Silas Ọnụ lamented the arrest of the youth leader and other members, saying “today, we are deeply saddened to report that the lives of Ebonyi people are no longer valuable to those mandated to protect them.”
The party secretariat has been under lock and key for a while following the division of the party following the defection of the State Governor David Umahi to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
