A reporter with News Central, Rukayya Aliyu Jibia, has been invited by the Katsina police command after receiving a formal complaint against her for alleged cyber related fraud.

21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that one Ibrahim Ibrahim, also a resident of Katsina, complained to the police that Rukayya Jibia has refused to disclose her bank statement after leading an online crowdfunding campaign on behalf of a politician in the state.

In a message her brothers shared online, Rukayya Jibia was invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

“Good evening, Ms Rukky Jibia, I am a police officer and an officer in charge of the legal section, SCID, Katsina State, I write to invite you to report at SCID, Katsina, tomorrow Friday 8/5/2026 by 2pm in connection to the case Cyber related fraud reported against you by one Ibrahim Ibrahim of Unguwar Alkali, Katsina. Thanks,” the message read.

Later on Friday, Rukayya Jibia announced that she would accept the police invitation next week Monday as she has other schedules to attend to on Friday.

21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathers that in March, a top politician in the state who was also a known philanthropist, Umar Tsauri (known as Tata) released a statement that he was in dire financial situation that has forced him to sell his properties and other belongings.

Rukayya Jibia, who is also a top social media influencer in the state, announced on Facebook that she would be coordinating a crowdfunding. She placed a GT Bank account number, disclosed her balance in the account and promised to share screenshot and bank statement of the money she would be sending to Tata after the contribution is done.

Rukayya shared the money she sent to Tata N640,757. She also said the sum of 715,757 was gathered but that three of the contributors said their contributions N75,000 should be used for a Qur’anic recitation on behalf of the politician.

While Rukayya shared the bank alert from her app with Umar Tsauri’s name as the beneficiary, she failed to share a bank statement from GT Bank which irked Ibrahim Ibrahim which made him complaint to the police for “fraud”.
