The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected bandits and two gun runners within the state.
The command personnels also rescued three kidnapped female victims during their operations in the Ikara Local Government Area of the state.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the Command Public Relations Officer, shared these accomplishments during a press briefing held at the command headquarters on Saturday as he paraded the arrested suspects alongside other individuals suspected of criminal activities.
According to him, the Suspected Bandits Apprehended on 22/09/2023, when the police were alerted by Nigerian Customs Service personnel about the presence of suspected bandits inside a suspicious, unregistered black Volkswagen Passat vehicle along the Zaria-Kano highway.
He explained that the police patrol team swiftly acted, intercepting the vehicle, the occupants, identified as Liti Iliya and Garba Luka, both from Anguwan Dankande village in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state, were apprehended.
He said a search of the vehicle revealed incriminating evidence, including an AK-47 rifle with 15 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition and a pair of vehicle registration number plates from Ebonyi state (HKW 578 AA), adding that Preliminary investigations are ongoing to uncover more arms and ammunition.
He said the Runners were arrested on 27/08/2023 by officers from the Command, stationed at the Divisional Headquarters in Maraban Jos, Kaduna, when they acted on credible information.
He said the arrested two suspicious individuals, Abdullahi Abubakar ‘M’ and Jamila Abdullahi ‘F,’ both hailing from Kazara village in Tsafe local government, Zamfara State.
He said they confessed to being on a mission to purchase arms and ammunition in Maraban Rido, Kaduna, on behalf of an individual named Habu, who is currently at large.
ASP Mansir said the rescued female victims was unfolded on 03/10/2023 while officers were conducting a routine patrol along the route from Ikara to Sayasaya village.
He said they detected unusual movements emanating from a nearby farm, “As they approached, three unidentified men fled into the bush, leaving behind three young girls: Jamima Matthew ‘F’ (19 years old), Felicia Sule ‘F’ (19 years old), and Kyauta Mamman ‘F’ (17 years old),” he said
He further explained that the girls are residents of Gedage village in Kubau local government and that Preliminary investigations revealed that these girls had been abducted on 24/09/2023 from Gedage village.
“The kidnappers had demanded an N11 million ransom from the victims’ family, with plans to collect it at the farm. However, the police swiftly intervened, rescuing the girls from harm. Medical examinations have been conducted, and they have joyfully reunited with their families,” he explained.
He said Command’s Commissioner, CP Musa Yusuf Garba, has appreciated the dedicated personnel for their exemplary performance which led to crime reductions in the state.
