Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made this known during a press briefing held on Monday at the Command Headquarters, Bompai, Kano. He said the arrests were the outcome of a special operation carried out by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) following a violent robbery attack at Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, on October 8, 2025.
According to him, during the incident, the armed gang reportedly broke into a residence at night, carting away a Toyota Yaris, cash totaling ₦3.7 million in both local and foreign currencies, three mobile phones, and other valuables adding that the assailants also assaulted the victim’s wife, leaving her with severe injuries.
According to CP Bakori, officers from Dorayi Division swiftly responded to the distress call, arresting one suspect on the spot. Subsequent intelligence-led operations led to the apprehension of eight others at different locations in Kano and Kaduna States.
He disclosed that all the suspects have confessed to their involvement in multiple armed robbery operations within and outside the state. The police also recovered firearms, live ammunition, sharp weapons, and an operational vehicle used in their criminal activities.
The Police Commissioner said investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the process. He commended his officers for their professionalism and bravery, describing the breakthrough as the result of effective intelligence gathering and strong community collaboration.
