The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered firearms, ammunition and N1,028,800.
Briefing journalists at the State Command headquarters, Bompai, Kano, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the arrest was made on March 6, 2025, at about 2:00pm by a team of police detectives led by SP Ahmad Abdullahi, Officer-in-Charge of Jar Kuka Out-Post.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers apprehended the suspects at Chula Filling Station, Hotoro Quarters, Kano, as they allegedly attempted to purchase an AK-47 rifle.
The suspects were identified as Shukurana Salihu, 25, from Katsina State; Rabi’u Dahiru, 35, from Katsina State; Ya’u Idris, 30, from Katsina State and Muktar Sani, 30 of Yandodo Hotoro Quarters, Kano.
According to Kiyawa, thorough search led to the recovery of three locally made revolver pistols; 12 live rounds of ammunition of different calibers; three cartridges; two cutlasses; four knives; 24 ball bearings; N1,028,800 in cash and suspected charms.
The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the state.
