Security operatives in Kaduna have arrested Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, a former commissioner in Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.
He was taken into custody around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday by policemen from Operation Fushin KADA shortly after leaving his residence.
Sources close to him said he was later taken to a court on Daura Road, Kaduna, before being remanded.
While the reason for his arrest remains unclear, Jafaru was one of six former commissioners that recently left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that came just hours after El-Rufai resigned from the party.
“We do not know the reason for his arrest or the charges against him but he was arrested by operation fushin KADA policemen and taken to a court at Daura road,” his political ally told 21st century
His arrest follows a similar incident in January, when Bashir Saidu, El-Rufai’s former chief of staff, was detained, taken to court, and remanded in prison for nearly two months days before being released on bail as investigation continues.
The police spokesperson couldn’t be reached on phone for comment .
