At least 26 social miscreants known as Kauraye have been arrested in Katsina metropolis by the Katsina police command as crackdown on their activities begins.
Exhibits including cutlasses, sharp knives and narcotics were also recovered from the suspects.
Recall that 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reported how Kauraye terrorised residents of Katsina metropolis which compelled the state governor Dikko Umar Radda to sign an Executive Order for the tackling of their activities last week.
Aside phone snatching and killing of innocent residents, the Kauraye also involve in rival group fight that mostly spill into break down of law and order.
The police spokesman man in the state, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said the arrest was a major breakthrough in the fight against Kauraye.
“On April 14th, 2026, at about 0200 hrs, the officer-in-charge of SWAT led a team of operatives on a coordinated operation across identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the metropolis. The operation resulted in the arrest of twenty-six suspects involved in various criminal activities, including belonging to gangs of social miscreants, unlawful society, and public nuisance.
“During the operation, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a sharp knife, sticks, a saw, six suspected stolen mobile phones, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 500 pieces of Exol tablets and a pair of military camouflage shirts,” he said in a statement sent to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE Friday night.
The suspects have been charged to court accordingly.
