The paramount ruler of Gindiri town in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr Charles Mato Dakat, has been abducted.
Security sources said the traditional ruler was abducted at his residence in the early hours of Sunday after sporadic gunshots.
The abduction was confirmed by Major Ishaku Takwa, the spokesperson of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce, maintaining peace in the state.
The task force said it has mobilized troops to the area to rescue the monarch.
