Two workers of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) have been killed by pirates while working close to Obama manifold at Okoroma community in Nembe and Brass local government areas of Bayelsa State.
An operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was also killed in the attack, while six oil workers carrying out maintenance work were also abducted to an unknown destination.
Spokesperson of the Bayelsa Command of NSCDC, Ogbere Solomon, on Monday said the attack took place on Sunday.
The president of the youth association in Okoroma clan, Tarinyu Joseph, said youths of the community had recovered the bodies of those killed and taken the injured to the hospital.
He, however, blamed the oil company for being insensitive to issues of security of the lives of the oil workers.
He said the company had refused to hire gunboats to protect oil workers while on official assignment along the waterways and creeks.
