The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has rejected the take over of the party leader by the Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT)
Spokesperson of the Wike faction, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, made this known, saying their group has vowed to resist the move by the former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara and the BoT members to take over the party.
Wabara, after a meeting of other organs of the PDP said his BoT was going to be leading the party to avoid leadership vacuum.
He said they would be in charge pending the establishment of a national caretaker committee.
The Wike-backed PDP BoT Chairman , Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, the BOT said “the legal position remains clear and unambiguous: the said Ibadan Convention stands nullified, and any structure emanating therefrom has no legal foundation.”
Ohuabunwa, who made this known in a statement on Thursday said the apex court’s ruling has reaffirmed the judgments of both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, which had earlier declared the Ibadan convention invalid.
Speaking further, the factional spokesperson, accused the Turaki-led side of “law breaking attitude. The last time Governor Bala Mohammed led them to invade the National Secretariat, in a gangster manner.
“They have always disobeyed court ruling. Wabara, as a leader is calling for people to invade the Wadata Plaza. Tomorrow, if they come.
We will give it to them the way they want it.”
The Wike-backed BoT welcomed Thursday’s Supreme Court judgment affirming earlier court rulings that nullified the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
