The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state and its Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are in a war of words over comments made by Governor Simon Lalong on farmers/herders crisis in the state.
Lalong, on Tuesday during a TV show, had said security reports at his disposal showed that herdsmen and farmers carry AK 47 rifles to protect and defend themselves.
The governor’s comment drew an immediate reaction from the opposition PDP, whose spokesperson John T. Akans on Thursday said Lalong lied.
Akans said the comments were reckless and “selling them out” and demanded Lalong to apologise.
The APC, in its response, said the PDP’s criticism is not only ill-conceived but misplaced and mischievous.
