The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been forced to postponed its governorship primary in Niger State as a result of the protest by aspirants over the authenticity of the delegates’ list.
The exercise has been scheduled to hold on Thursday.
Four out of the five aspirants earlier screened for the exercise, threatened to stage a walk-out if their demand of ensuring proper identification of all the delegates was not met.
The protesting aspirants include Sani Idris Kutigi, Sidi Abdul, former Minister of Sports, Abdulrahman Gimba and Abubakar Isah Jankara.
The aspirants later held an emergency meeting in one of the offices in the secretariat after which they approached the Chairman of the State Electoral Panel and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on their decision to pull out of the contest.
Kutigi, who later spoke on behalf of other aggrieved aspirants, said the exercise could only go ahead if all the delegates properly identified themselves with driving licence, national identity card or passports.
