The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slated its National Executive Council meeting for Saturday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, has said.
Ologbondiyan announced the new date while speaking to the media on the outcome of its National Working Committee meeting, held in Abuja, on
Thursday.
He said the NWC meeting also affirmed Elder Yemi Akinwonmi as the Acting national chairman of the party.
There was disagreement within the party leadership over the vacuum created by the recent suspension of Uche Secondus from superintending over the party’s activities by a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Both the Deputy National Chairman (South), Akinwonmi and Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Suleiman Nazif were laying claim to the national chairmanship seat following the injunction.
However, the NWC decision affirming Akinwonmi as Acting National Chairman has rested on the issue.
Ologbondiyan added, “We will be holding our caucus and another NWC meeting tomorrow (Friday) preparatory to holding our National Executive Council meeting at 12 ‘O’clock on Saturday. “
