Ms Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s deputy governorship candidate in Cross River State.
She is to run alongside the governorship candidate, Sandy Onor in the forthcoming election.
Her candidature was announced at a ceremony in Calabar by Onor, and the state party Chairman, Venatius Ikem on Monday.
“You can’t properly mobilise without the strength of women. Since Cecilia Ekpenyong had a short stint as a woman deputy governor in Cross River State (30 years ago), we have not carried our women along again.
“So we came to the conclusion that we needed to fill the deputy governorship seat with a woman. Women cannot just be cheerleaders among us. Women must also be integrated and given pride of place,” Onor said.
