A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aminu Ibrahim Ringim in Jigawa State has been expelled for anti-party activities.
The state chairman of the party Alhaji Ibrahim Babandi, disclosed this to newsmen Wednesday in Dutse the state capital.
Babandi said Ibrahim failed to appear and defend himself before a committee set up to answer to his wrong doings, adding that the decision by the Executive Committee of the PDP following a letter from Ibrahim’s ward in Ringim.
The chairman said the exco received the letter announcing the suspension for alleged sabotage by him.
In compliance with the APC constitution on matters, of this nature, Babandi said a committee was set up, adding that “we invited both both the ward executive committee and the person under investigation.
He said the committee invited him twice to defend himself before the committee, but failed to do so. “We were advised to take the next action, which was to expel him from the party, as par recommendation of the committee, which we endorsed, it” he said.
Ringim said the State Executive Committee lacked the power to expel him from the party, adding that the executives were illegally constituted hence they lacked the power to invite or take action against any member of the party.
