Fifteen out of the 17 presidential aspirants were on Friday, cleared by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s screening committee to contest the primaries of the party ahead of the 2023 election.
Two of the aspirants however failed to scale the hurdle and were therefore disqualified by the Senator David Mark-led screening committee.
Senator Mark who disclosed the outcome of the exercise to newsmen shortly after the conclusion of the exercise at Legacy House, Abuja, at 7pm, did not gave the identity of the two aspirants.
He said the affected aspirants failed to meet the key requirements to move to next stage of the exercise.
Those who obtained the party’s presidential forms include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki, and Pius Anyim; Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.
Others were Dele Momodu; Oliver Tariela Diana; Nwachukwu Amakwenze; Mohammed Hayatu-Deen; Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; Sam Ohuabunwa; Emmanuel Udom; former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose; Charles Okwudili; Chikwendu Kalu; and Ndukwe Cosmos.
Senator Mark said the outcome of screening exercise will be transmitted to the PDP National Working Committee for consideration tonight.
