The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state has announced that it would suspend its political activities for the coming week, following the passing of Ifeanyi, the son of David Adeleke (Davido), the nephew of state governor-elect Ademola Adeleke.
Dr. Adekunle Akindele, the state’s acting party chairman, issued a condolence message in Osogbo in which he made this statement on Tuesday, and instructed all party committees and organs to pause their work in solidarity with the family.
He called the event “a very sad occurrence.”
“We lament our son Ifeanyi’s tragic death.
“We offer up prayers for his soul’s peace. Although it is a sad day, we don’t waver in our belief in the Creator of the universe.
We offer Davido, our youth ambassador, our condolences.
“We express our sorrow to Dr. Deji Adeleke, our father figure, and the entire Adeleke family.
We beseech the good Lord to give the family the fortitude to endure this unrecoverable loss, he said.
Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos on Monday.
