Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyeola has won the Ward 8, unit 1, Isare Ifofin, Ilesa East Local Government Area of the state, which is the polling unit of the Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola.
Mr Oyetola, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 164 votes, defeating Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 134 votes.
Mr Aregbesola has however shunned the governorship poll.
The minister ruled the state for eight years before handing over to Oyetola.
The two politicians have parted ways recently with their supporters engaged in violent clashes.
