Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke received his Certificate of Return (CoR) from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.
The commission presented the certificate 72 hours after Adeleke was declared the winner of the Saturday governorship poll.
Adeleke, a PDP candidate, got 403,371 votes to defeat the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.
The INEC National Commissioner supervising Osun, Ogun, and Oyo States, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, presented the certificate to Adeleke and to the Deputy Governor-elect, Mr Kola Adewusi.
The commissioner said the introduction of innovative technologies and processes such as the use of; Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), INEC Election Result Viewing Portal, Election Risk Management tools, Training for Corp members among others, had significantly geared INEC towards delivering seamless voter experiences to the electorate.
In his response, Senator Adeleke thanked the people of the state for their support for his victory.
He said, “Our state has now turned to a new page and we can now look forward to a bright future and a path for progress and prosperity for our people.’
