The wife and house help of former Chief of Staff to Benue Governor Terwase Orbunde have been kidnapped.
Orbunde was Governor Samuel Ortom’s Chief of Staff
He later resigned to contest the PDP governorship primary. He later joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) but still lost out of the race.
Suspected herdsmen invaded Orbunde’s residence close to the Genocide Cemetery along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital around 6 pm on Friday.
Orbunde escaped with a gunshot on his right arm while his wife Mrs Abigail Kashimana Orbunde with her house help Patience Ogute was abducted away.
Locals said the trio had gone to weed their farm located close to the road, adding that after the inspection and payment of the workers, five gunmen suddenly attacked them as they walked back to the car.
The attackers fired at Orbunde on the right arm and took the two women to an unknown destination.
The shooting reportedly attracted villagers and passersby who scampered for safety.
The locals who watched from a distance, said the leader of the group Orbunde him to walk away while the gunmen took the women away before good Samaritans rushed Orbunde to the hospital.
