Gunmen have attacked attacked a Benue Links bus conveying passengers to Otukpo through Naka road in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State killing a passenger and wouding two others.
The police state command said the wounded are being treated in an undisclosed facility, adding that the Gunmen abducted some of the passengers
The police said the attackers ambushed the bus at about 8 p.m., adding that police officers who were nearby intervened.
“They had already injured three persons before the police intervened. They were taken to a hospital where they were receiving medical treatment.
“In the course of being treated, one of them died,” Benue Police spokesperson Catherine Anene confirmed to THE WHISTLER on Saturday.
The recent incident is the third in the past month where unknown armed men waylay Benue Links buses and opened fire on the passengers.
It would be recalled that Gunmen attacked three Benue link buses on September 10 and September 18.
On the September 10, attacked the attackers hijacked two Lagos-bound Benue Links buses along the Ajaokuta-Okene highway after and kidnapped 26 persons
Eight days after, a other Benue Links bus was attacked and no fewer than 11 passengers weee whisked away by at about 10 p.m. along Ugbokolo-Otukpa road in Okpokpwu LGA of the state.
