At least 10 persons have been killed in two auto accidents in Benue and Ondo states.
Ondo State Police Command said the accident occurred on Wednesday along the Ijoka area of Akure, Ondo State.
The victims include a couple and their three children, who were returning to their house after the day’s work when tragedy struck.
Their vehicle reportedly rammed into a heavy duty tractor parked by the roadside.
An eyewitness said the accident occurred around 9pm, adding that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the command had commenced investigation into the crash.
Also, five people were killed in the Gboko when a Sharon vehicle rammed into people at a market.
The Sharon had a brake failure at the front of Temperance Hotel, Akaajime, within Gboko town, and in the driver who lost control run into people on the roadside market.
A witness who simply gave his name as Jack, said the incident happened around 7pm on Tuesday.
“The vehicle was coming from Gboko town to Mkar, in the Gboko Local Government Area of the state when the incident happened.
“Five people were killed on the spot and 16 people were injured and receiving treatment at private hospitals in Gboko.
“There are 12 injured people at St. Joseph and four others at Atuna hospital in Gboko.”
The Chairman of Gboko LGA, James Kachina, who was accompanied by the leader of the Gboko legislative house, Peters Maaki, reportedly visited the hospitals on Wednesday.
Kachina said 16 injured people were in the two hospitals and pledged that the council would support them.
