Thirty-year-old Bola Agbedimu has been arrested for alleged possession of fake 1,000 notes.
The police arrested the suspect at the Kila market in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State following a report lodged at Odeda divisional headquarters that the suspect was caught spending fake currency notes in the market.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Friday in Abeokuta that the DPO Odeda division, CSP Femi Olabode, detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On searching her bag, N24,000 fake currency note was discovered.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed that she is a habitual counterfeit naira note dealer.
“She confessed further that her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and using it to purchase goods,” Oyeyemi said.
Oyeyemi said preliminary investigation revealed that “she has been arrested severally at different markets within Abeokuta.”
He said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
