A husband and wife Kehinde Oladimeji, 43, and Adejumoke Raji, 35, found in possession of fresh human parts have been arrested.
The couple live in No. 72 MKO Abiola Way Leme, Abeokuta in Abeokuta South LGA of Ogun State.
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command arrested the suspects following a report lodged at Kemta Divisional Headquarters by the Baale of Leme Community Chief Moshood Ogunwolu,
The Baale told police that a certain Pastor Adisa Olarewaju who is a co tenant with the suspects informed him of offensive odours coming out from the room of the suspects.
The Police spokesperson. Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Saturday, told newsmen that following the complaint, the DPO Kemta Division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, quickly led his detectives to the scene where a search was carried out on the premises.
“On searching the room, a plastic bowl containing fresh different parts of human being was discovered in the room, and the couple were promptly arrested,” Oyeyemi said.
Oyeyemi said the suspects said the human parts comprising hands, breasts and other parts were given to them by one Michael who they claimed resided in Adatan area of Abeokuta.
He quoted them as saying; “efforts to locate the said Michael proved abortive as the suspects could not locate his house.”
The spokesperson recalled that a dismembered body of an unknown person was found in a swampy area at Leme area of Abeokuta about a week ago.
But he explained that; “it is not yet clear whether the parts were that of the found body or not.”
Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered investigation into the matter.
This latest arrest is coming barely two weeks that four teenagers were arrested for slaughtering and burning the head of one Sofiat Kehinde, for money rituals.
