Fourteen people, including a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), have been arrested over the raid on the home of a justice of the Supreme Court, Mary Odili.
Police spokesperson, Frank Mba, said the suspects include a journalist and a cleric. He said 10 other suspects, including two military personnel, whom he said are currently at large.
Mba said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident following a written petition by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice.
“The case was subsequently handed over to the force intelligence bureau on the instruction of the IGP,” he said.
On October 30, security operatives stormed the Odili’s Abuja residence over an allegation that illegal activities were going on there.
The AGF and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Chairman of Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, denied authorizing the search.
Subsequently, the IGP ordered an investigation into the incident.
