An application by the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, challenging the powers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to prosecute him has been rejected by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Justice Ekwo on Thursday said the application lacked merit and deserved to be dismissed.
The EFCC arraigned Obiano, on January 24, on nine charges bordering on alleged N4bn theft.
Obiano’s lawyer Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), however said the EFCC has no power to prosecute his client.
Obiano said no prima facie case had been preferred against him.
