A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to stop dwelling on past mistakes and instead focus on building a secure nation with effective governance.
Obi made the appeal during a meeting with his supporters in Katsina on Sunday, where he spoke on the need for change and reforms in the country’s system of governance.
The former Anambra state governor stressed that past failures should not continue to serve as obstacles to the country’s development.
Obi also identified insecurity as a major concern, noting that killings and conflicts should no longer be allowed to persist.
According to him, protecting lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government.
In his remarks, a key ADC figure in Katsina State, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, said Nigeria continues to recycle old political narratives dating back to the eras of Ahmadu Bello, Shehu Shagari, and Olusegun Obasanjo, without achieving significant transformation.
Inuwa noted that Nigeria’s politics remains heavily influenced by regional and ideological divisions, stressing the need to prioritize national development.
Similarly, ADC governorship aspirant in Katsina for the 2027 election, Lawal Musa Daura, said their alliance with Obi is aimed at bringing change, adding that their policies will be unveiled in due course.
